So, I’m not putting this under a cut because we’re all adults here or whatever. (We’re not really, I know, shhhh)
I am getting an IUD inserted today and I am getting really really nervous about it. It’s not that I don’t want the IUD, I wouldn’t have chosen to get one if I didn’t want it. I have been on some form of birth control for a pretty long time, and I have switched from method to method as they continuously stop working their hormonal magic on my heavy and crampy periods. The patch even made me develop an allergy to adhesives that I still have to this day. (Cool. -.-) The IUD is a good option for me, as the localized hormones in Mirena might help better with my period symptoms, and the fact that it lasts 5 years means I’m not spending a shit-ton of money on pills even WITH my insurance covering some of it. I know that I want this IUD.
I’m just scared of the pain of the insertion. Reading other people’s experiences online is not helping me. I know it will be worth it. But I feel like I’m going to throw up now. :/
